can anyone tell me if tulips are poison as my bully pup ate some and has been sick and had the runs.
Make Your Pet's Home Poison Safe: List of Toxic Plants
Tulip
Common Name: Tulip
Scientific Name: Tulip sp
Family: Liliaceae
Toxic Principle: Unavailable
Clinical signs: intense vomiting, depression, diarrhea, hypersalivation, inappetence.
This is what I found so far
Edit again :S : The bulb is the most toxic part. But so are the leaves.
Just check with the vet on what to do.
I believe they are posionous my oldest one ate quite a few but we were just very lucky if I was you I would give the vet a quick ring.
Ah...found a list with non-toxic and there is the tulip again :
List of Non-Toxic Plants
This list contains plants that have not been reported as having systemic effects on animals or as having intense effects on the gastrointestinal tract. Any plant material ingested by an animal (as when dogs and cats ingest yard grass) may produce signs of vomiting, depression, or diarrhea. These signs are generally mild and self-limiting and often do not require any treatment.
I know that the bulbs can be toxic, even to humans.
So it might be nothing but I would contact your vet anyway...better safe than sorry :)
