Having spent early hours of Friday morning rounding up horses as on my previous thread, guess what we have been doing tonight!!!

Phone rang 9.30, its my son, he has just had a call to say his 100 plus sheep are out all over the road.

So in the car we get, go 15 miles, drive over muddy field, thank god for 4-wheel drives.  He has managed to get them off road into field with the help of the police, but in the dark even with the dog they are not flocking together, after a struggle with some stragglers we eventually get them penned up in hurdles.

Looks like the electric fencing has either failed by a branch blowing onto it or something has spooked them and they have run full pelt and flattened it.

I'm on guard to stop them pushing out of the pen whilst he is tying it up.  One of the ewes starts to cough and suddenly dropped dead!!!!

Got it sorted eventually but its made his mind up, he's decided to get out of sheep.  With all the new Defra rulings and all the extra paperwork coming up its not worth the effort and work, for very little return.

One very cold very windswept mum, who is now going to have to try and get warm before going to bed. :-(  I'm just waiting for the third thing to happen now!!!!

Barbara - it seems to me that your offspring had better each have a dog travelling with them, to round up the wais & strays they find wandering round the countryside :D

Might I suggest a couple of Aussies ;)

Now you know there's bound to be a third occasion ... you don't leave too ear a zoo, do you - or a wintering travelling circus - you're should be aware of all giraffes, elephants & zebras in a 30 mile vicinity!

OMG not a visitation by my Sis!!! Clean the house, bath the dogs and have everyone onparade :-D

I know what it is, she wants to sneak one of my puppies away when she comes avisiting :-D

Of course it is Kazz, great thing is though she hasn't a clue when I am coming ;) However I have been lent a horse so might just appear in her front garden :D
