Does anyone else ever get a slight electric shock when stroking their labs? I also started getting electric shocks from the metal handle of the Henry last week when I was hoovering up 2+ pounds of white flour from the carpet......(removed from the cupboard as out of date, and not removed to dustbin quickly enough before discoverd by said labs.....)
Its nice to hear that someone else is the same as me. I get shocks when grooming my Leo, dusting the tv, supermarket trollys, car, hoovers and other people.Beleive it or not I have curly hair as well , though not through sticking my fingers in the plug sockets!!!!
I have noticed that in the last week i keep getting electric shocks from the dogs. Poor ellie looked really taken back when i touched her today!

Have a look at the shoes you are wearing :) If it doesn't happen all the time that might be the answer ;)

I get elecrtic shocks all the time at work but never at home. What do your shoes have to do with it just out of interest?

Depends a lot what your shoes/soles are made of. Leather is the worst, I think :) The worst carpet is a man made fibre.

I get electric shocks from all my dogs at this time of year. I have no carpets in the house, but as it is winter I wear fleeces. PJ's are fleece, tops over t/shirts are fleece, and my romper suit (yes my daughter bought me an adults size baby grow for Xmas last year :D ) is also fleece. All polyester fibre and highly charged :D :D

So would using fabric softener help with this? I don't really like it but it does seem to be effective in reducing static.

Fabric conditioner probably would help, but I dont use it. All the dogs bedding is vetbet polyester and I certainly would not use fabric conditioner on that at all. I only assume its the fleece's as I am never bothered with static during warmer weather when I dont wear them. And, If you take a whole load of polyester out of tumble dryer in the dark, its like fireworks night :D
