I agree.
It was me who recommended a behaviourist and the reason for that is because ideally you would talk to someone who can help you understand your dog.If he is insured, some insurers will pay for behavioural consultations which could solve the cost problem.Also costs vary enormously. Someone on www.apdt.co.uk would probably not cost much at all but some have behavioural interest and may be able to offer help... other organisations may have very experienced behaviourists but charge more.
It would indeed be helpful if you can tell us what seems to set him off and why - is it cats, people walking past, noises? Dustmen, kids playing, etc? Does he literally seem to bark all the time? If so can he see out the window etc assuming he is indoors? I agree that he would need to be BAER tested to be sure he isn't deaf. Owners can't tell properly for themselves and have been known to live for years with a deaf dog!!

I take it he isn't outside?
We really do need much more information if uou want us to help :)
