Yes but will need to go away and have a look I "think" he's connected with obedience in some way

Yeah he is an obedience trainer :)

The reason i ask is that I went to one of his classes last night to see if I should take my new puppy when I get him next month.  I thought the class was great, he seems to know how to speak dog language.... anyway his assistant told me that he was very well-known and probably one of the top 10 obedience trainers in the world.... what I want to know is if his assistant was just saying that out of loyalty, or if he actually is well known.  Anyone know anything about him?
thanks

ive asked about abit,& he has wrote bits for DTW (dog training weekley.which is a obedience magazine)
nobody can remeber him doing much in the way of competitive obedience himself, but from the website looks more of a "behavorist" type of trainer than a competitve type of trainer.
nice site though, you could probaly do ALOT worse than going there.

my friend who writes articles & researches bloodlines of ob dogs had never heard of him though!

I know John Uncle.
He is a well respected dog trainer.
One of my work collegues used to work with him at dog training - she thinks he's wonderful.

Yep, that's him on the website... I was just checking my intuition was right, as after I met John I didnt really feel it was necessary to look for a different trainer :) He seems like the right one.

Thanks for the replies :)
