on other forums the hot topic is the best dog food most say Science diet, and Iams is bad dog food. Inova and Blue and natural choice are the best thats what they are saying i am utterly confused my vet recommended to me to feed Iams but other folks have said the only reason vets reccomend this food is they have a deal with the company they get discounts or something  now i wonder what really is the best. your thoughts would be fantastic!

The best food for your dog is one that suits YOUR dog!!!!

We feed pedigree here with the old lad on eukanuba, afriend won't touch the stuff and swears by JWB yet another likes Nutro, another likes raw, it depends on your dog.  Saying that yes a vet will tell you to feed the food they suply!  if your dog likes this however and is healthy on it why change!?

You will get as many answers as people.  I like Arden Grange myself which has a higehr meat content than comparable brends, and is on the BUAV list as not being tested on animals which is the main objection to IAMS/Eukanuba.

I also like Autrarky a cheaper brand that has a higher than average animal protein content, and contains a lot of different herbs and vegetables.

I am a great fan of the Wafcol range.

I prefer to feed a natural diet, but if you want dry food, the best seems to be Burns as it has no additives and is all meat, rice and veg.  Narurediet is supposed to be better, but it's a soft wet one - all fresh ingredients cooked in the containers.  Can be ordered online, discounts apply for quantities.

Would definitely say not Sciene Diet!  I would suggest either NatureDiet wich is a complete meat diet or if you really want to stick to dry either JWB or Burns.  Avoid Artificial colours and presrvatives that WILL damage your dogs digestive system and check what is actually in th food.

Most tinned foods are more soya than meat which is no good for your dog.

Most dried foods are more wheat than meat and many dogs have wheat intolerances.

Commercial dog foods and the low quality ingredients are currently the topic of debate - i feed my dogs Nature Diet and the difference has been amazing - calmer, better skin andcoat condition, less to clear up, not a sign of an upset stomach.

HI there

I have been feeding my westie pup Nutro Choice this is what she has been on since we collected her from our breeder..this was fine we had 2 varitys of the Nutro but then she started to be a bit pickie..

I posted a message on this site as to what other members of this site recommend and most said Nature Diet...I did however change to Nature Best as I did get a bit confused as there were so many options with similar names....so Mitzi my westie has been on this food for a couple of weeks.

Is there any reason why you wouldnt recommend the Science Diet I think this is the same company that makes Nature Best???

Mitzi is just over 4 months old and her baby teeth have just fallen out, so with the food Im giving her she again is being a bit pickie with it. Im mixin this with hot water so its softer on her gums.  Im just hoping shes not going to stop eating this one as well.
