Just got back from yet another lovely long walk, (half term this week so I can really indulge) made longer by the fact that I ended up wading into the river after Busby's air kong after waiting for it to catch the current for about an hour. It kept going round in a sort of whirlpool - very frustrating as it just lodged against the opposite bank, then set off again. Busby will fetch it no problem - but NOT in the water, thank you very much, whereas Sparky will paddle and swim to his heart's content 2 inches away from whatever I'd like him to fetch, and just laugh at me. But it's Busby's favourite toy - and comes in very handy for keeping his attention on me when we're out, so in I went...
Of course, just as I'm scrambling up the side, someone goes past and I get yet another of those sympathetic looks that really means "You idiot!"
And I'm here asking myself - would I have done that for the kids, or just said "Well it's your own fault for dropping it in there" - I think I know the answer to that one!

You are not alone :D :D Last week Tara decided that a good game was to run off with Bramble's kong-on-rope and drop it into the stream. Now, Bramble will normally retrieve it - as long as he can see it. But the stupid dogs kept running up and down in the stream and stirred up all the mud, so he couldn't see it :( Muggins had to slide down the, almost vertical, 8 foot bank (I don't have the agility of my dogs and had to cling onto the trees to stop me sliding into the water). Then had to catch said dogs - tie them up to a tree further up the stream and wait for the mud to settle so that I could see the ball :D :D Tara did the same thing the next day - I have now changed the routine and fortunately she has forgotten her 'very good idea' :D :D :D
