I posted on here this morning as Sam had cut his pad I've kept him quiet all day but he's been licking his testicles alot. I've just looked and they are red raw so it looks like a visit to the vet is inevitable tomorrow. Does anyone know if this a common problem I've only had bitches before. He has been on different antibiotics since early December for various reasons so I wonder if they could be the cause.He has got a buster collar but we can't use it as he has had an op on his neck so he can only wear a halti. Looks like another night on the floor for me.

I've seen dogs that have licked themselves raw in other places, usually the legs or feet, due to allergies but never the testicles.  I know it's strange but could you buy him doggie pants or put some type of wrap around him to let them heal?

He could of sat in something that has had a corrosive effect.  The skin on testicles is very thin and reacts badly.  One of mine had it once, probably from some pesticide or something off the field, but things like cleaning fluids, diesel, petrol, etc.. will cause identical symptoms.  Hope he gets well soon.

Thanks for your replies I took him to the vet yesterday as I was so worried she thinks he could have just scratched himself which has caused him to lick. I'm using Fuciderm around the area twice a day so I hope that will do the trick.

It is does look as if its improving slowly but I've had to resort to pants so he doesn't lick so thanks for that Mr Spock. He does look a sight though he's got a sock on his paw and now pants. The vet said she hasn't seen this very often she's called it scrotal excema but it was probably caused by a scratch.
