I was talking to my mother about feeding raw meat, and she satd if you give dogs raw meat/ blood there more likely to attack you as they have the taste of flesh!

I just thought i would posted it and see what use said.  I dont think these but she was told this years back.

False! It's an old wives' tale.

Wish it was true then I could feed the kids to the dogs that is one way to get rid of them :)

Well....it is an old wives tale but this is where you have to know your dog if not your science. Different protein content can affect personality. I think barf does wonders for certain breeds, but I think unless you know what you're doing it can be hazardous for the more dominant breeds.

I have been told too much protien can helps give puppies Coccidiosis ( which is blood in the stool) Especially breeding bitches.

the breeder feeds raw so i think i will do the same.  i was reading on one of the bullmastiff web ring sites and a breeder swears by it can't rememder who it was, once you go on one of the links you get completely side tracked and end up reading all kinds, useful though i must say.

Frank
although I do not have B mastiffs I have found ,as have others I know, that BARF has had the complete opposite affect...it has calmed my boys down not made them aggressive. One thought is that by feeding a completely natural diet you are not feeding all those additives and preservatives

as with children i supose all those additives would make a dog hyper

I read on a website about BARFonce, that it helps a dog to develop at it's "normal" rate, whereas feeding complete foods develops a puppy too quickly and they reach adult size far quicker than they should.

It was certainly true for my three. They were put on BARF at 8 weeks and grew at a much steadier pace than their littermates who seemed to reach adult size too quickly. And they caught up :)

Totally agree. Some commercial foods are 25-30% protein, puppy ones can be even higher. Raw meat such as tripe is nearer 9%. My pups haven't grown too fast on it.
