My husband and I are first time dog owners after always having dogs in our lives as children, Ralph (4 months) Labrador is ours. I had grown up with Spaniels and cross breed dogs and my husband german shephards and Labradors. We read lots of breed guides and books, talked to dog owners about lots of different breeds and decided to go for a Labrador.
I have never known a dog like him - he is so good and we love him so much - we really picked a sweetheart -well he picked us really.
This morning I fell over in the back garden and really hurt mysef and was clutching my leg in pain. Ralph was in the kitchen fast asleep and snoring and could not see me. I had made no noise and was right at the back of the garden and suddenly his face appeared in the patio doors in the back room - looking anxious at the sight of me on the floor. He jumped uo at the door handle several times until it opened (he had never done this before) and came at me like a bullet licking me all over - normally he would jump up at my head thinking it was 'play time'. He seem to know I was hurt - how he knew I had fallen I do not know! He has been following me around and watching me like a hawk ever since.
Just wondered if anyone else has had experiences like this?

I have two labs that usually fly around like nut cases, but last year I broke my ankle and was in plaster for 8 weeks. Both dogs were glued to me, but when I was hobbling around they never rushed in front of me, or did their usual sprint stuff. When I rested they sat with me, and moved from room to room with me, and never left me on my own.
