Hi im gana try a new diet, just plain healthy eating. i thought we could have a mini little dieting club. where people share details of how there diet is going, how much theyve lost etc. including starting dress size or weight. im a dress size 16. bad eh!!?
I wouldn't say thats bad - I'm a size 16 too and weigh 11.5lbs :-)
I've not been quite so good on my diet so far this year - had all the good intentions but just not been able to stick to it. I've told myself that I'm better off waiting until the Spring as then I'll be more into having salads etc, in the cold Winter I find I'm craving more!!
Last year I lost 2 stone by healthy eating - lots of salad, stirfrys, fish etc etc I completely gave up fizzy drinks and made the local chippy a total no go area!!
I have made one change to my life so far this year in that I've started horse riding again which is good exercise so hopefully that together with another good healthy diet will spur me to lose the other 2 stone I want to get rid of this year!!

Don't get too hung up on dress sizes, they vary so much. Depending where I'm buying from I can go from a 12 to a 16. As long as my weight stays just under 10st7lbs I'm happy.

I thought I was the only one that was a size 16 (14 in M&S) and weigh about 13 stone. I dont know exactly as I decided that I dont believe scales :0 I have been trying to be more healthy but havnt got far yet, every time I loose a bit something happens, like a party or a bad day and I end up drinking a bottle of wine (or 2 on the really bad days). Apparetly it is quite common for people to almost subconciously sabotage themselves. Think I may have to try the self hypnosis tape.
Its the dress size thing that depresses me. I've got friends who weigh more than me but still manage to fit into a size 14 and yet I have no chance - must be my child bearing hips and ample bosom!!!
The whole clothes shopping thing is dire. Even if it fits half of it is so badly cut or cut for teenagers with no shape.

what gets me,is i have really fat legs. now there is a cheapo shoe shop next door & ALL their boots dont fit,even the wellies!!!!!!
I do tend to have that trouble, however now nothing fits as I have a high instep and have to wear an orthopedic insole that makes it even higher. So I cant even cheer myself up shoe shopping - unless I want another pair of walking boots :(

Snap Michelle I ahve never been able to wear boots at all, and only mens wellies fit.

sometimes.....even wellies dont fit!!!! :O
Hi decided to do a different detox sort of plan:
Im going to have peaches this mornign a whole tin of peahces.
Pasta and a sause and chicken and vegetables.
ganna have large mullerlight yougot for snack and fruit for snaking too.
Going to also do 1/2hr exercise and tonning.
IF people wanna tell others about how hey are doing, and there starting weight etc. Im 5 foot 8 and 13stone 8.5ilbs, going to weigh self every night

Seriously though, diets do not work long term, only healthy eating and sticking to it,regular exercise and enjoying it will work :D
I'm far too heavy but have lost 3 1/2 stone since Sept following a healthier lifestyle and still losing!
Good luck everyone, I know how hard it can be.
Exchanging healthy recipes would be good to see on here,I do get stuck for changes in mealtimes.

How tall is everyone, that affects your dress size a lot someone whos 13 stone and 6ft is going to be in a lot smaller size that someone whos 5ft4 say and 13stone...depends on where your curvy bits are too
I'm 5foot 6", a size 16 and weigh 11.5lbs.
My ideal weight is 10stone - but this final 1.5stone seems to be so hard to shift!!
Im 5'7 and I think aroud 13 1/2 stone (trying hard not to be obsessive about weight) take a size 16. Would love to be a size 12 but settle for a comfortable 14 :)
I'm 5ft 7, was 11stone 3lbs and I'm now 10st 5, I'm going to try to get down to 10st but I very much doubt I'll be able to stay that weight! Am a size 12 normally, altho quite depressing coz my bum is huge so can't get half the low cut trousers on!

Im 5ft 3in weigh 11 stone 10lb, im not really sure on dress size (cos I never wear dresses :D :D ) but my waist size is a tight 12 and my top size is a 14/16. Ideally I would like to get down to 9 stone 7lb but I will be happy at 10 stone :)
I'm 5'6 and weigh 12 stone, i have just got weighed this morning and lost 3 pounds yey!!! i'm doing the weight watchers diet before i go on holiday it's really good because you can eat what you want only in small portions, i couldn't belive this morning because i have had 2 mc chicken sandwiches this week and numerous bottles of weight watchers wine. Well I'm just under 5ft 7 and weight 10 stone 4 lbs. I'm a size 12/14. Everyone thinks that I'm a lot skinnier than I am. most people think that I'm a size 8, 10 at the most and don't believe me when I tell them how much I weigh. I'm wanting to lose about 8 lbs and then I'll be happy, still a size 12 but happier :d
The only thing about starting my healthy eating, I'm not on a diet, is that when I'm doing my fruit drinks etc. my dogs are all stood around and they eat half of my fruit and it takes me ages to do my drinks. lydia my old girl, loves any of the left over drink.

Hi couldnt stick to healthy eating so gana try this calorie controlled one. Does anybody want to know how to wrok out the calories you should have??
find you weight in ilbs x 10 - 500. Also i would take off drink calories too, i took off an extra 200 calories, hope it works,

Hello I'm 5.0 and up until 1999 used to be 13 1/2 stone. using Slimming world I got down to 8 st 5 and stayed there for 3 years but last year put on a stone on due to getting into lazy habits. I have now lost 7lbs in 2.5 weeks and so I'm much happier now just a bit to go now.
I would have to say that calorie counting or weight watchers arnt such good diets in the long run. Yes you will lose weight in the short term but it doesnt teach you good eating habits that will enable you to keep the weight off for life as you are able to take all your allotted calories or points from the 'bad' foods. Slimming World plan encourages healthy food and limits fatty sugary 'bad' food. Then when you decide you are at a healthy weight you will have altered your eating habits and that should mean that you will maintain your weight. As I say I got lazy with food and basically came off holiday, where I eat what I want, half a stone heavier and then instead of losing it over a couple of weeks,maintained that weight then along came Christmas and same again. So I have gone back to basics and now my eating habits are back to as they should be

but thats yo yo dieting isnt it thats not good for your health eventually it will take longer to shift the pounds
Hi ive lost weight before on slimming world, but i started eating again and it all went bakc on, badlY! might try slimming world again, im so much more laziernow.. i used to do 1/2 of exercise a day and walk the dogs each day of the weekend.
i need some help!! Badly need help!! but only i can help myself, i know that!!

i have done weight watchers, atkins, slimming world they all work to lose weight its maintaining it thats hard work if you diet then return to the way you ate before it all goes back on and more dont go on any diet unless you are prepared to eat that way for the rest of your life.for me their was no way i was not going to eat choc,crisp,takeway ect for the rest of my life. ive done it.i dont diet any more i just eat what i like only half the portion it works and i dont feel deprived so no need to overeat or crave things try that it realy does work.i suppose moderation is the key.i lost my weight its slower but i would rather have slower and keep it off than fast and but it back on.
Ok!!!!!!! Have 2 kids aged 5 and 3 (just) !!!! Pre kids weighed 10st, at 5ft tall!!(overweight I know). After child no. 1 ballooned to 11st 9 lb (classed as obese!!) did weight watchers for 8 months and lost 2 STONE but could not lose any more!!!!! Became pregnant with, and gave birth to child no. 2.( Ballooned to 11st 6lb,1 choccy orange and bottle wine per day (LOL!!)). Slimming World; have to recommend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lost 3st 1 lb, and got down to 8st 5lb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Highlight of my life!! I maintained this weight for 6 months and then lost the plot which was my own fault. Now 18 months later am 10st 6lb (size 14/16) and ashamed of myself! (I managed to get down to a size 10/12!!!!!!). It can be done, but for those who struggle with their weight (You are not alone). I think we will always struggle!

I have always been on the larger side since having the kids even though I walk the dogs every day. I think my problem with weight comes down to not eating enough. I went to a Scottish Slimmers class a few weeks ago and sat and listened to all the advice and encouragement. I came home full of plans and wrote down what I was going to eat for the next week, after I had worked it all out I couldn't believe what I was meant to be having. I tried really hard the first day and ended up having two kit-kats and a small bag of crisps to make up my checks.
I find now that I have started working at the yard and am mucking out and running around like a headless chicken on teaching days that I am losing weight slowly every week. I am almost up to about a stone and a half. Only another 5 stone to go :D Maybe if I watched what I was eating I would lose it faster, but I'm really happy with how its going. My skin is much firmer and I feel so much fitter. I sleep the whole night now and I have tons more energy than when I lost weight before I felt I went really flabby as I lost the weight (4 stones) too quickly. If it takes me a couple of years to get to the size I'm happy with then so be it. It does feel great to be wearing jeans that I actually have to pull up all the time as opposed to feeling that I'm being cut in half :D though
