I wasnt sure which heading to put this under.
I am going to put wood chippings down to prevent weeds in my garden but as I am expecting a litter I wondered if it would be safe?
I know coco shells arent but cant say I have heard anything about bark chippings.
hi i pup bark chips down and the only problem i had was brown staining on white feet, and that was after constant hoseing down but i did find my dogs liked to pee on it and after a few months it began to stink i jad to lift it and put down pebbles
Good point about the smell hadnt thought of that. I am a bit concerned about the staining side as well now. I have got a small fence in front of the plants but if I know my dogs they will make a bee line for that exact spot!
My flower beds are all wood chipped. The only thing I can say is that Barney (my 7 month Briard puppy) just eats it! Not just occasionally, but every time he goes in the garden. Im not starving him, honest :-o , he has just taken a liking to it!

I took up my grass and covered an area with bark for the dogs to use as a toilet. I haven't had any problems at all with it. We seem to get enough rain to stop any smell!!!
I did get a smell when I had grass.
Once a year I lift it and spread it on the garden, and replace it with fresh stuff
