I have now been converted to feeding raw meet but why would you feed fruit and vegetables to dogs who are carnivourous? I only ask this question because someone said they feg veg, just trying to understand.

Some people feed veg some don't.I feed a small quantity of veg the idea being that a wild dog would eat the partially digested remains from its preys stomach.
I only feed a 'nominal' amount of fruit and veg but feel it can't do any harm

Bizzare as this sounds some dogs like mine do love fruit and veg!  My best friends bait their dogs on carrotts. I have carrot crunching dallies and a jack russell that used die when we got out satsumas.  Personally I would rather have a choccie bar.

Ps I think I was told the carrots help clean the teeth although not sure where I heard this.

Yep...mine enjoy carrot etc too but they cannot digest it in that form and so for nutritional value it is best proceesed before feeding

Buy the ultimate diet for cats and dogs, it is cheap and simple to follow.

You are better to understand the diet fully before bashing on with it.

One of my Spanish goes barmy about banana's.  I hate them myself but he adores them.  Actually he pinched one yesterday and ate the skin. luckily he seems ok.

Totally agree with Blue, do your research, read the books & then you decide whats best for them, after all they`re you`re dogs & you know them better then us :)
If you need help with what books post again & we`ll give you some links :)

Dogs aren't carnivorous, they are omnivores like us. It's cats who are total carnivores.

Dogs dont need fruit and veg persay, but the extra vits. and mins. they provide dont hurt either. I would rather supplement with whole, fresh foods than use synthetic vitamins and minerals :)

Don't you feed fish oils and vitamins in tablet form, Rose, I'm sure I read that somewhere recently.

Very good isabel, you are a clever little bee :) I give fish oil to my dog who doesnt like fish and royal jelly capsules as it is very hard to find fresh nowadays  B-complex to my once anorexic dog.
Like i said i would rather feed fresh, whole foods than synthetic supps. but sometimes thats not possible or you get a dog that wont eat the variety that contain these vitamins.

Would you like me to clarify anything else for you Isabel ? :)

My 2 goldens love raw carrots I usually give them 1 each everyday.

I wouldn't worry about using them Rose, it is quite hard to find synthetic additives too, there are over 300 permitted additives in the UK but only about 40 are synthetic the entire remainder being nature copies :)
