hi all new on here. just like to know what you think of having our 16 week old staff bitch microchipped. is it o.k, does it cause them any discomfert. and do the chips move about at all. thank's steve

had my bullmastiff puppy (14ks) micro chipped doesnt hurt mine didnt even notice it being done.as far as i know micro chips do not move and you cant feel them through there coat either.

Chips have been known to move & can be felt depending on who did the chipping &, according to a microchipper I know, the breed. She does not chip some of the "looser" skinned dogs until they are at least 6 months old

Both of my staffies were microchipped at the same time they had their second injections so probably about 10/12 weeks old.
The needle is rather large but it doesnt seem to cause them any more pain than a normal injection.

16 weeks is fine. Puppies skin is easier to pierce that older skin so it is done and dusted without much distress.

I get all of mine done at 8 weeks including any going to pet homes. Never had a problem.

I was told recently that is the chip is rechecked 12 hours later and still there then it shouldn't move. , if movement is noticed month later it was probably in the first 12 hours it moved. Not sure how accurate that info is but it was a chip trainer that said it to us at ring craft class a few weeks ago.

Both of mine are chipped- no problems :)

Both of mine are chipped with no discomfort, but one of them has moved from between the shoulder blades to her chest, and that was only done 4 months ago when she was 8 weeks old. It's prevented me from using a harness with her as I don't want to risk rubbing it against her bone, but it wouldn't stop me microchipping again in future.
