we have a male british bulldog called harvey, he is 13 months old and due to have the chop this wednesday.  Harvey, at the moment, is hyperactive.  We are currently having to walk him 3 times a day for approx 2 1/2 hours (not each time) to tire him out.
This is the first british bulldog we have had, so we are virgins to their temperment.
Is their anybody that can tell us if we are doing the right thing by walking him for this length of time.  We find if we dont, he does not stop demanding from us all night.

We love our dog very much but have thought would it be better for harvey if we found him a home where they have more time for him?

can any help.#

Guest - do you think it might be that he doesn't need the physical exercise as much as he needs his mind occupying?

I also wouldn't rely on castration as helping... what training are you doing with him?

Young dogs like Harvey benefit from a lot of sleep and not a lot of exercise. I would keep the exercise to a good run off lead in the morning, a training romp at lunchtime, and quiet lead training in the evening followed by quiet time in his bed, all of this with you in charge all of the time. Be firm but gentle but be in control or the dog will control you. Over exercise just leads to an extremely fit young dog who wants to go out all of the time. You may find that using a lower protein food may calm things down. Good luck.

Can you please tell us all about Nellie?  As i know this is not your first Bulldog, out with the old in with the new eh?  I have read on the Bulldog forum all about Harvey and you have been given excellent advice on there.  Maybe he is better off with someone that can be bothered with him :(

How do you even know this is the same person/dog?
If it is the same person then the breeder of her Harvey would be more than willing to
have harvey back offer advice or even help rehome him I know that for sure.

Well hello!
I think perhaps we are getting confused here aren't we? You see I might be the person that you are referring to regarding Nellie, and yes I have a dog called Harvey. But am i the author of this thread?..no! My Harvey is as docile as a lamb, and is sitting at my feet snoring. I did not start this thread, and you know it just might be possible that more than one person in the country decided to call their Bulldog Harvey.
I resent the fact that you imply I can't look after my dog. If you are a member of the Bulldog Forum you would know i think the world of him. So I am torn...are you genuinely mistaken, or is this simply an act of trollish behaviour?
Either way, me and MY Harvey are absolutly fine, thanks for your concern.
