I'm so proud we got Tyler about 2 months ago and he had been badly treated, but he has come on leaps and bounds especially with other dogs, he meets two other dogs on his walks regularly they are brother and sister but all three play like best mates, we also meet various other dogs and tonight we met red setter and spaniel, setter was playful and spaniel was growling but Tyler was well behaved and the owners mentioned how well mannered he was, we also met a young child of about two last week and as the child was aproaching his mum was saying be careful, then Tyler sat down and the child was allowed over for a stroke him. He has realised by sitting he gets nice things, when we got him he had no training what so ever. We had a real hard time and i have to admit i was thinking in the back of my mind rehoming. Just thought i would post to all who are thinking of rehoming or who have rescue dog that eventually it may work out. We get so many compliments on how well behaved he is, but it wasn't always like this.

It's lovely to hear stories like this one, you hear of so many dog's that have been rehomed time & time again (maybe even p.t.s.) because they do not get the right kind of owner who is willing to perserve. Well done. Viv

Thanks for sharing Tyler's success :) We're seeing great results with Echo too - he's been with us 3 weeks now. The inappropriate humping is all but gone and if he starts it just takes a word to stop him. Hes got the hang of his crate for sleeping, he sits for his lead on and off, he's more tolerant of being left alone, and stands to be groomed. He is much younger than we thought, very puppyish. Now all I need to work on is the dreaded recall. Hes learning down and stays - he dosent know it, thinks its fun. Recall is hard as there is pressure to let him off lead and I dont think hes quite ready - he stays beside me off lead when walking but if anything exciting ( smelling another dog or playing with a ball) happens he looks as if hell be off... Tyler is doing so well, keep at it :)

Well done lorelei!!! Tyler is not perfect off lead either but i can live with that for the time being, we are getting there slowly. How old is your puppy do you know?

I'm so pleased for you - my hard times with Copper are still continuing but you've given me inspiration to try even more with him.  I, like you, had thought about re-homing at one stage but then he was re-homed to me in the first place so I thought I should make more of an effort.

It sounds like all your dedication has really paid off - well done!  :)

I sympathise with you, one day it will all click into place, and like me you will probably feel guilty for thinking about rehoming him. I remember crying all the time and also finding it hard to bond with him, now i wouldn't be without him. Good luck to you let me know how you get on.
