i need help not getting it quick enough from the other room my dog has started digging in the wall? i know sounds strange but today he has done it in the corner of the room .he has loads of toys and he was only on his own for twenty mins {8 months old}
Dogs frequently only play with toys when their owners are either present or actually play with them.
Dobermanns can make those people from "changing rooms" and "have a new garden" look like rank amateurs amateurs - in a very short space of time as you have discovered. It may be that you have mice in the walls as they are great hunters of small rodents or it may just be that he is bored.
At his age if you do half an hours dedicated training he should get mentally tired and then give him a good run to get him physically tired and he may sleep for a while while you do other things. When I take my 10 month old for a day's training I have to practically pick her up to move her in the evenings as she is so deeply asleep - bliss!
well i am sure its not the mice, but i will try the training and walks he has not had his propper walks because he has been suffering with the puppy limp and was told to take it steady with him till he is about one and a half when his bones stop growing but a light walk on his lead should be ok but might not be enough to wear him out
Puppy limp is probably Panosteitis? I am becoming convinced that food (and speed of growth) is a major factor in this condition.
If he has been having restricted exercise then that could also be why he is using his energy for other things. Engage his brain, hide things and get him searching for them, teach him to speak on command and do static work such as teaching him where he should be in the heel position, how to give you his toys etc etc.
yes panosteitis that the proper name for it i can never remember it ,thanks for that lots of traning for blade from now on to try and wear him out that way ,when i looked pano up on the internet it said to change his food to dog food rather that puppy food do you know anything about that
They probably mean adult rather than puppy food - at 8 months your Dobe is old enough to go onto a good adult food. Personally I would look into a raw diet and feed that but everyone has different opinions on this.

Abby is very food motivated(sp) so she has a ball that has two small holes in I put her food in the ball and she has to push the ball around to get the food out. We have lots of toys that she has to use her brain these really help.

Do you have mice? Digging walls is often caused by the dog hearing mice behind the walls.
well i was sure but now you guys have made me think otherwise
my walls are external wall the ones he has scrached

Yes I put all her food in the ball.
Mary
cheers for that i will get one tomorrow and try that
