My 12 weeks old miniature schnauzer sometimes eats his own poo.

Is this normal? Will he grow out of it? Are we not feeding him enough?

Also what should you do when playing with puppies and they bite?
Do you encourage them to only bite toys?

Thanks

Hi Guest, there's loads of info on here about eating of faeces, never had a dog who did it so can't comment but as we have a puppy at the mo I can comment on the nipping problem :)
We are quite lucky as Idõ is not a bitey puppy but if he does ever put his teeth on our skin we make a high pitched yelping noise like his litter mates would have done and that is usually enough to stop him, then he goes back to licking-much more acceptable!!
Always keep a range of tpys to hand to stick in his mouth if he is persistant, we find that he likes Nylabones and also any kind of soft toy(2 extremes!!), try your local charity shop and keep an eye on any holes where stuffing could come out or eyes or other bits could fall off and get swallowed, but if you are palying with him with these toys ie he doesn't get them on his own, then you should be ok.
And remember to praise when he does stop biting, your his world at the mo and all he wants to do is make you happy-cherish this time, when adolescense hits it will be a different matter!!!
Hope this helps, good luck with him
Emily
