Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on the contraceptive injection. I would like to here all the 1st hand advice on the cons of it really. If anyone is wondering why I don't just spey her, its because she is going to be shown, and she also lives with a male who isn't castrated although I am considering this as I really don't want any litters for the forseeable future. I know some people have used the injections to prevent seasons without problems but a rescue X breed I had died after having this injection(she couldn't be spayed due to health problems) & a friends Champion Afghan Bitch could never get in whelp after its use So I would counsel against it's use

Unless it is a breed that spaying affects teh coat in anegatice way as regards shwoing (thinking silky coated breeds and Spaniels here( then there is no reason you can't spay ehr and still show.

It is many years now that the Kennel club changed the rule that stated only neutered stock with registered progeny could be shown.  Now all you need do is inform them that it has been done and show as normal.
