i have a male and a female westie, they have had a litter in the past, but i would like to breed them again. the male used to live with my sister. he now lives with me. since living with my female he no longer shows much interest in her even when she is ready and willing. is it because they live together twenty fourseven?

If you keep dogs together as a family that is exactly how they regard each other it is very common for them not to mate.

The best person to talk to about breeding your pet westies really is the breeders of the dogs. They can give you the best advice and also tell you if they are suitable mates.

The reason i asked her age is because i have three westies at home, the two bitches are 3rd & 4th generation of my own line and a while i go i bought a new dog for showing and when he was old enough and the girls were in season i set about mating them the older bitch who has had one litter before (to a diffrent stud dog) would not let him anywhere near her on the other hand her daughter successfully tied twice. the way i see it is that my older bitch see's herself as the top dog and is not going to let some upstart father her pups.Try finding her a good compatible stud dog.
