Hello everyone!
I would love to have a Coton de Tulear dog. It seems that the number of breeders for this type of dogs is quite limited in UK, so in order to maximise my options I have been thinking about looking for breeders within EU. I have heard that with the introduction of pet passports rules about quarantine etc had been changed. Does anyone know how a puppy can be brought from France for instance??? i found some site but the rules were explained in a very confusing manner. Lots talk about "approved carriers" and "approved routes" what is all that about???? Please help.
Thank you, Veronika.

I think that they have to be 13 weeks before their vaccinations, the pup at the very least would be 9 months old before it would be able to come into this country on the Pet Passport.  I'd love to know how much they would charge as the price for a puppy here is about £1,500 !  Manchester Champ. show had a really large entry of them which was nice to see, they're lucky because in the toy group I think that they are the only breed so don't have any others to contend with so in effect they have breed classes, the lucky devils :d :d

Dear  Perrodeagua!
Thanks for reply. I did not realise they would have to be 9 months old before they can get a passport.... So much for my bright idea to shop around!!!! Do you know who charges 1500 pounds. So far I contacted one person and they quoted 2000!!!

Actually if they don't get their Rabies inocilation until 3 months of age they will have to be at least 10 months before being able to enter the UK.

First the pup must be chipped, then have the Rabies shot (if it is done other way around it will need to have the Rabies again).  The Blood test cannot be taken until at least 30 days after the innoculation, and if it comes back with sufficent antibosy titre then the dog can enter the UK six months after that.

The Pet Passport rules do state that the Microchip has to be implaned before the Rabies shot is given though if all done at the same time I don't suppose it matters, but I think it is so tht the Chip number goes on the Rabies paperwork.

I have put 3 through the PETS paperwork and do know of one dog from Belgium who had to ahve his redone as the chip was done after the Rabies.  So he missed coming to Crufts that year and had to wait until the following.

I don't but heard that they were around £1,500.  Eeeh, I could get 2 3/4 of my breed for £2,000.
