I've found a lovely lady who has a horse that she's not riding at the moment. She has said that I can go and ride and be as involved as I like with her horse. We've agreed that I pay her a small amount a week and for that I get unlimited riding!! :D
Much better than a 30minute lesson once a fortnight!! :D
As soon as I've got my car on the road there will be no stopping me!!
I've been over there twice already and he's a lovely boy called Hobbit - I'm really looking forward to getting to know him better :D
Just thought I'd share with you!!

Congrats :) What breed is he?
I've converted 2 of mine to bitless bridles this week - they love them and they ride so much better in them now!
He's called Hobbit and he's a lovely piebald cob. He's very sweet and has got a very cheeky little face!! I've been out hacking on him a couple of times now and he's been a total gent with me!! I've heard a few stories of how he can be a monkey but so far so good :D
Lucky you Charanda :) Id love to ride again, but it will have to wait until the Tribe are less expensive. Did you find it all came back easily?
I've found that I remember exactly what I should be doing (even remembered the right diaganol (sp?) to be on when on rising trot)!! but its physically doing stuff that is harder. Then again my muscles have been asleep for the last 10 years so waking them up again is the key!!
I'm not half as achy as I thought I was going to be though I admit to having a bit of a numb bum after my first 1.5hr ride!! :D
Lucky you!! I'll be thinking of you and am very jealous :) I found the physical bit was definitely the worst part of riding again but probably not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Hobbit sounds lovely, do keep the updates coming!!

i used to ride Hal ( :( )in a american hackamore sometimes.she loved it,made her feel like a "proper" Quarter horse, instead of only half of one. couldnt jump her in it though!!!!!!

Yep, I thought of a hackamore, but I don't need anything as strong as that. Mine are just ridden in cross pull bitless bridles - one step up from a headcollar. They go really well in them, even my 4 year old, and people's faces are really funny to see when there's NO BIT!! LOL :D

i used to ride her up the field in her "be nice" halter sometimes. are they still about? they were great, taught her to load nicely & not kill the farrier.
i miss her alot :(

Interesting arrangement....who pays for vet bills, shoes, tack and insurance? just curious :)
His owner does. The money I pay her obviously contributes to whatever she wants it to. I am doing her a favour by exercising him for her. She would have had to sell him if she couldn't find anyone to ride him which is the last thing she wanted to do.
