Hello, I am the proud owner of a beautiful 1 year old Chocolate Lab.  Just recently I have noticed a yellow patch developing on his tail, didn't really take to much notice and thought it was just in his breeding.  The patch has become much bigger and more noticable and on closer inspection it's not actually Golden Hair but the under coat and it looks like he has been chewing his hair off!!  Is this normal? What can I do? Is a visit to the Vets in order?  HELP!!!!

Yes a visit to the vets may help determine why he's doing this - it may be something as simple as seeking relief from the discomfort of an impacted anal gland, or it may be stress caused by his lifestyle, but it's always best to rule out the simple things first.....
