Thanks Daisy

I think one of my puppies has been left there :D

The Ark is being cagey about it but it does make me even more reluctant to have any more puppies if I can't trust their owners to contact me when there are problems

surely theyed (ark)like you to contact them in that case,so you can help???????
are you going to try to get the pup back?
good luck & fingers xd for you

It is an RSPCA home and once a dog has been signed over to them that is generally it although I do have the contract that the purchasers' signed which I would suspect may give me a prior claim as the owners did not have the right to sign the RSPCA form.

At the moment they won't confirm that it is definitely him and are supposed to be getting back to me, so I faxed them his details - hopefully one of the benefits of microchipping pups before they leave home

Wish me luck (especially as I already have an extra male that arrived Christmas Eve) so three would be more than too many

That grin above should have been a sad face but I did the wrong one :-( :-(

Sad news about the pup Kerioak, hope all goes well with you getting him back. How sad that the owners didn't give you a call :(

Did you chip this pup yourself or did someone else do it?  I ask as we've just rehomed a schip last saturday and I chipped this particular bitch last year along with about 18 others, her details had not been changed from the original registration as no time between last saturday and Thursday when I got the call about her.  Seems she had escaped the day before and got run over on a motorway on thursday, she had been found to be chipped and all contact numbers had drawn a blank so the vets who had her rang me because my details were available to them as the chipper of said dog, seems they do that if they can't find anyone else to either contact the dogs breeder or see if we know who the dog has been rehomed to or just if a new address of phone number hasn't been added.

Its worth a call to petlog to find out, if you are an authorised user and have the pups microchip number and the chippers id number to hand they should be able to tell you if they have been notified of a change of owner as most rescues/council kennels etc can only adopt the dogs out so they will remain under their name if already microchipped not the new owners and they do like to do it asap as if it is a known escape artist they make money on the animal either by rehoming again or charges when it's picked up by the dog warden.

Sorry to sound bitter but as I've done work for my own breed rescue I've learned that the dogs interests are not always paramount to some of these organisations.

Hi Schip

I chipped the pup myself but passed the details onto the new owners when I homed him.  I have always identified my pups, to start with I had them tattooed but then when I wanted my adults rabies innoculated I trained to do the microchipping myself and have done it ever since.

Sorry to hear that your rehome got run over.

Good luck getting the puppy back - regardless of how careful we are it's in the lap of the gods whether new owners will really let the breeder know about a problem, no matter what they agree to at the time :(

I've only had one litter and thankfully all's well so far but you never know what lies ahead - I had everyone fully agree to keep in touch and return the puppy at any stage in it's life if things weren't working out and sign contracts to that effect and hopefully they'll keep to their words (verbal and written) but who knows   So far everyone has kept me posted by phone, email or letter and I really hope that continues

Will keep all fingers and paws here well and truly crossed for you.

Good luck,  Teri :)

Some of you know my opinion of the RSPCA but in one case I am seriously (and publicly) going to revise it for one particular place :-)  This is the Stubbington Ark in Southampton (area)  a worthy cause.

After a lot of frustration I eventually got to talk to a very nice lady there who was happy to have me co-operate with them in finding a home for *my* puppy as I could not take him as I already had a male for rehoming.  A few days later she contacted me and said that she had a possible home for my older boy as they did not have any dogs suitable for this couple and they were experienced Dobermann owners.  Yesterday I spent the day travelling, meeting and checking out the potential home and leaving the lad there and bought the puppy who has been transferred to me, back home with me :D

To say he is hyper would be putting it mildly, but having spent two months in kennels he can now learn some manners such as keeping some of his feet on the floor instead of the top of my head

I'm really pleased for you Christine.  Good for you, for battling on with this one - what a great outcome.  :)

It sounds like you've now got a real live-wire to keep you on your toes for the next few months!  Have fun with him! :D
