I have a puppy aged 8 weeks who is passing a small ammount of blood on the last piece of poo as he pushes it out. This has been going on a couple of days.Have spoken to my vet, explained puppy hasn`t a temperature, his siblings are fine, he is bonny and bright, eating and drinking well......but it still concerns me.My vet wasn`t too worried and confirmed as I thought he has probably strained himself.I just wish it would stop happening.Has anyone any suggestions as to what I could do?I bred him and he is staying with me but I wish it wouldn`t happen, I dread him going to the toilet, and he goes more frequently as he is obviously making himself sore. His motions are normal,no upset. Thanks for reading this, awaiting any valuable suggestions.
Hi! My dog, when she was a puppy also had blood in her stools which looked like gel .I promptly took her to the vets who pumped her with antibiotics & tablets! Within a week the injection site came up like a golf ball which was a reaction to the antibiotics! Hence more different antibiotics were needed to reduce the inflammation in the lump!!!! A vicious circle really. Back to the original question do you give your pup Rawhide 'cos this was the cause of my pups bloody stools. I think these things do right themselves eventually just needs to be monitored closely.
