Topic Dog Boards / General / Puppy transport UK to holland
- By Iguana74 [nl] Date 31.01.05 11:28 UTC
Hi,

I will transport a puppy from the UK to Holland in March.
Of course everybody is telling me different things about the rules.
I know I have to sort out all the info myself en that's OK with me.
Have lots of info so far and think I might have all the info needed except for a copy
of UK rules (in englisch of course) for transporting a puppy (8 weeks)
Just in case customs will try to make trouble on the airport (pup is travelling with me in the cabine me NOT as cargo)
So far I've noticed that not all departments are up to speed on current rules. And just want to avoid hassle and
put this paper under their nose in case they are still following old rules.

I have this in Dutch already in case customs here in the Netherlands are not up to speed with current rules
Could any one provide me with a URL to a UK website for the ministry of agriculture or another site were the current rules (changed in July 2004) are listed so I can print this and take it with me

Thanks!

I've never had any problems sending dogs via/to the Netherlands & it is easier for me as I use the P&O Ferries, there are a good few Dog Sports people(Schutzhund) go to & from the Netherlands Belgium, France & Germany on a regular basis. The puppies I have sent have all been a bit older as they went after their rabies shots(not a requirement for the Netherlands as they can have them there, but they were done at the request of my friends who were to be their new owners)

The Netherlands officals are on the whole very pleasant & the ones I have come across love dogs so thay like to see & meet the puppy

Your puppy is lucky to be going to the Netherlands it is a very dog friendly country & stary dogs are a rarity

Thanks Moonmaiden.

Just want to cover all bases since the rules have changed last year and want to be prepared for everything.
The Rabies shot will not be given before transport since the pup will be 8 weeks old than.
And since I'm taking him with me on the plane and customes there might not be aware of the new rules (goverment departments here in
the Netherlands don't even have their fact straight so I noticed) I rather be too prepared and therefor able to take the puppy to
his new home than not prepared enough.

By the way it's not my puppy going there.
I'm bringing the puppy here from an Englisch breeder.
