Hi, was wondering if someone can help me operate windows xp from home, from my work machine, i have sent aload of excel spreadsheets to my home pc, we operate window 2000 and 98 at work, my home pc wont let me open them can anyone help :)
You should be able to ope them if you have the Excel, or Works spreadsheet program at home. If when you try to open it up comes a box asking what to open it as, then you don't have Excel, but if you have Works Spreadsheet (a dumbed down version of excel with help prompts etc) then tell it to open in that program. :D That is what I do.
well i use windows 98/ 2000 at work so use excel, on the xp at home it looks like a bog standard spreadsheet, there doest appear to be as many commands. ie import / export, i was gonna try this but cant find the damn thing

Should still work. If your home PC is running XP and you works PC that you sent the files from is running 2000 then XP will open 2000.
Are you attaching them to a mail and then opening them? Whats the file name - is it ****.csv per chance?

Depends on the Excel version tho' - although you have XP Windows at home - what is your Excel ? You can always open files created in an earlier/same version of Excel - but not if they were created in a later version.
Daisy Meant to say that I have Windows XP here - but Excel is 2000
If you go into Excel and click on 'Help' at the top - then 'About Excel' - it will tell you what version you are running (you probably know this :) )
