What are the chances of a bitch getting pregnant after the first mating on day 11.I tried again on day 12 and the dog was going through the motions but not really up for it. I have left them today. The bitch will be day 14 tomorow. If I dont get a mating tomorrow is she likely to have got caught on day 11. She has been VERY co operative.

If they had a full tie it is more likely she is pregnant than not.
That is of course in perfectly healthy dog and bitch.

I have had a bitch miss to dogs when mated several times, and equally had a big litter of 9 with just the one service! It all depends on when the bitch ovulates. some will stand for a long time, but not be ready, so if the sperm are dead by the time the eggs are ripe no pups. Some bitches will only stand at the time they are absolutely ready (or some dogs won't mate her until then even if she flirts like mad), and a nice litter results.

I would try for another mating until she is no longer willing, and wait and see!

i had a topic up about this a while back-how much sex is safe sex-if you go to search it might still be about-anyhow id travelled a long way for a mating, the bitch had a previous litter and it was to the same male so i knew they where capable, i didnt feel up to a second journey so took my chances-she had 7 pups, sadly 3 where huge and born dead but the time before i went twice and got 5 ,so you never can tell

2 bitches, 3 litters, both mated Day 13, just one mating to the dogs, = 3 litters of 14 pups each litter!
Can anyone advise on how to get your bitches to be less fertile???? Is fertility a family trait? My first bitch is the dam of my second bitch, who in turn is dam of my 20 month old bitch and a litter of 9 pups. Is my 20 month old likely to give me 14 when she gets mated, if ever?

im sure it runs in lines-my sisters rottie bitch has had 2 litters of 10 and 11 i think it was-her daughter had a litter last year and produced 14!!!:D

My bitch was mated 3 times and had 3 litters to the same dog.

Litter1 = 7 puppies
Litter2 = 7 puppies
Litter3 = 6 puppies + 1 partialy reabsorbed
