A friend of mine bought a Bearded Collie bitch about 3 years ago.  He also has two mixed breed terrier types both bitches.  The small dogs are quite excitable but will settle after a good old run around the Beardie however just does not settle at all. I have 3 Beardie bitches myself (ages 2 - 8) and find that they settle well after the initial greeting and run around but as we know they never grow up.

My other concern is that my friends Beardie looks very loose around the legs (don't know how else to describe it) and doesn't appear to have as much muscle mass as mine as mine.

My first feeling was that she may not be getting enough exercise or mental stimulation but I am told she gets the same exercise as the little ones and they are fine.  I have heard from other friends that thyroid trouble can cause problems like this.
Any ideas would be welcome.

Is it possible that your friend's dog is cross-bred ?  In either case I would look at the diet first ; too high a level of protein is known to cause hyperactivity. Hope all goes well. FP

Could also be caused by the type of ffod.As with some humans some dogs react badly to colourings and additives so it may be worth looking at what is being fed
