Ellis is now 16 months old and still not pointing.  OH is getting worried that he may never point and wants to start encouraging him to do so.

Will it come naturally in the end?

I was wondering the same about my Setter, instead of pointing he runs straight in and flushes whatever it is out - he came out of the woods the other day hot on the tail of a deer :rolleyes:

I was wondering how I could help him point, I was told to introduce him to penned rabbits of pheasants to encourage him but my mum has rabbits and he isnt really interested in them :(

Yep, we have been told to pen some game and plant it somewhere and he should start pointing, that's what OH is going to do anyway so we shall just have to wait and see.

He's doing really well when taken out with the Hawk, he has learn't not to chase the rabbits :D that's the Hawks job and now he just sits and watches what is going on.

See Bronnie is better at letting you know something is there, as she is frightened of game much to OH's discus...

when tally was a pup she used to point at her toys in the living room!!! :-) she now just points to our budgies!!!! yes Tally we know they are there and No you cant hunt them!!! :-)

Fagan used to point at the cats when he was a little pup but now he doesnt do anything other than chase things :(
