hi everyone, i have a male gsd puppy and wondered if i should get his hips scored when he is a year old. i have no intention of breeding from him although he does have a VERY good pedigree with hip scores through out. please let me know your thoughts

It is always worth doing, as if it is good you know that you can happily let him lead an active life, do Agility Working Trials etc.  If the result isn't as good then you can help prevent things getting worse with appropriate excersise etc.  From a breeders point of view it is good to have as many of your pups scored as possible to give you a true picture of what you are producing.  From the breeds point of view it helps to give3 a true picture of how the breed is faring.

Like Brainless, I would get them hipscored - I don't want to breed from my bitch but I will probably have her scored (mainly to give me peace of mind that her hips are ok to work her) but also it will mean more dogs within the breed are scored which will give a better picture of the breed as a whole.
