A rubber glove, rubber brush or rubber hound mit will help you get masses of moulting coat out, leaving the dog sleek and clean :) a damp rubber brush/glove works best I find :D
Hi, I think I know the thing you are talking about. Visit www.furminator.com (think that's spelt correctly). It looks very good.

The Coat King will definately do the job :D
Edited to say - Just had a look at the furminator Tool, it looks like a glorified Coat King ;) and uses a blade ;)

Be carefull if you buy a Coat King as I've heard some horror stories about the injuries it can cause if used incorrectly. One woman sliced a four inch gap in her dogs back and another man gashed his finger badly when the dog moved quickly. I've never used one, but was intending to buy until I heard these stories - not sure now what to do as my Olive is a bit of a wriggler.

If the coat is undercoat you can buy undercoat rakes which are really really good, I get a tesco-sized bag full of my 2 collies coats each year.

Coat kings are strippers. They will strip out any coat they can, they are very sharp, I woldn't recormend them to anyone. rubber horse brush we find best!
Remember that the coat king doesnt only take loose or shed hair, it actually has a blade and cuts growing hair. Care should therefore be used with one, as you can end up going a bit far with it and getting a nearly bald dog!

The furminator also has a blade ;) Having used the coat kings I find that they cut very little coat compared to a stripping knife or similar. The main thing they do is take out old coat and undercoat. Of course if you use it with a heavy hand it will take more top coat out and then it will be cut. Any tool involving a blade should be used with caution, whether a Coat King, Furminator or scissors ;)
