Hi all,  I am a new poster so sorry if I make mistakes while trying to learn the system!  I have a 12.1/2 golden retriever who has noticeable tear stains.  Anyone know any good remedies for removing these?  Thanks.

The best thing I have found is good old bicarbonate of soda! Dissolve about a teaspoonful in quarter of a pint of water and bathe the stains with this, taking care not to get it in his/her eyes. It isn't an instant cure but it does work.

Thanks Jeangenie,  I'll try that.  I've used some under eye cleansing lotion I bought from the pet shop but it hasn't made any difference.  My old boy has such a beautiful face and I don't want these nasty marks on it!!

I would also try to find out why he is getting stained?  Is this recent, as it could be a sign of f blocked teer duct, ingrowing eyelas all of which might need treatment.

Hi Brainless,  It's not recent, I think it is probably just an old age thing but I am changing vets soon so will get the vet to check it out as well.
