I am really angry, my husband took our lab to the park yesterday morning and some filthy person had dropped loaves of bread on the ground and not picked them up they were just lying there all mouldy. My husband could not stop Desi in time and she ate half a loaf of mouldy bread she still does not leave things when we ask her to and ran around with it apparently eating it on the way.
Since yesterday afternoon she has had terrible diarrhoea, I hope nobody is eating whilst reading this but it is squirting out like water!!!!!!!!! Is there anything I can do to try and stop this naturally before making a vets appointment tomorrow???? I tried her on a little boiled rice last night but that did not help.
Thanks
Van

I wouldn't feed her anything at all for 24 hours, make sure she has plenty of clean fresh water available, and that she is drinking it. Keep her warm and comfortable. You're lucky - wheat products in that sort of quantity usually trigger a colitis attack for my ESS... :(
When you do start feeding her again, do the boiled rice and boiled chicken thing to start with, slowly restoring the balance back to her own food....

just a quick question - does the chicken have to be boiled? could it be grilled also?

I too would starve for 24 hours, but then rather than introduce another "new food" to a sensitive stomach, I would feed a small amount, maybe 1/8, of the normal food, for breakfast, the same amount for lunch, then the same for dinner. If that settled OK, then I would give normal amount halved on the second day, and on the third day, hopefully be back to normal.
If your dog is used to eating chicken and rice, then I would boil the chicken with the rice to give the rice some flavour.
I must say, and I know that many of the "New Age Trainers" will disagree with me, one of the first lessons my pups are taught is "No" and "Leave", for exactly the situation that you describe. All my dogs will stop eating on command, which has been invaluable when encountering dead fish, lambs and calves on the beach!!

I'm not sure what you mean by 'new age trainers' but I know many trainers who, like me, use only positive methods, and the 'leave' command is a very important one, and I teach it in puppy classes....

Personally I would boil it. It's not hard to do, and boiling is more efficient at removing the fats. For this reason, I wouldn't cook it with the rice, as the rice could absorb/trap the fat, which wouldn't be so gentle on the stomache.
