Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Lost loads of condition/liver toxins

Hi
Dont know if anyone has ever heard of this friends little bitch had a section she only produced 4 babies but one lost during labour.
2 weeks into rearing and she starts to lose condition rapidly they keep feeding her up but to no avail she has the runs really bad so they take her to the vets and they took blood samples testing liver /kidneys and what ever else they test for they tell them it can be related to having a section but dont divulge any more info. They had the results today and the count in her liver is hight so I am assuming the toxin levels not sure. She has to go for a scan of her liver on monday so imagine they will be looking at the size of it. But what is this leading to?. Pup's are 4and half weeks so they are eating but will start to wean them off Mum as reckon its not helping. The little bitch is happy in herself no temp or anything but boy she looks awful you would report them if you saw her I have seen her eat and its like her last meal and then 10 mins later she goes like it again for another meal its like the engine hasnt switched off and is running at high revs. Has anybody had this or know what the vets are on, with any info would be fantastic as her owners are really worried.

Superfilly,

What breed is this little bitch?

Seems a silly question I know but it could be important.

Regards
Dill

Well, if she had been a Bedlington I would have been thinking of possible copper storage problems, but not sure if Staffys are likely to be affected, although have heard that any breed can be affected, just that some breeds are known about and some not.

Thank's Lel well she had the ultra sound and they think pancreaitus what ever so less fatty foods more carbs and some pills of some type they are weaning babies as they are on solids anyway its just going to be a bit quicker as she needs less strain on her body but will go and see her again at the weekend. Such a sweet dot she is
