a while ago, my dad gave my 6 month old gsp about 5-10 grapes, beacause he didn't know they were bad for him. then earlier, while i was out, my auntie gave him grapes because she didn't know either. i just read that small amouts of grapes and raisins coulds lead to kidney failure in some dogs. will monty be ok?

My dogs eat grapes of the grape vine untill their hearts content, never had a sign of kidney failure!

thanks, i thought monty might be ok cos at christmas he ate a flake, a santa choccie bar, a crunchie and a normal chocolate bar. he seemed 2 enjoy himself!

Your lucky he is ok eating that amount of chocolate.  If anything is going to do him any harm, its giving him chocolate.  Dogs can died from eating choclate in large quantities.  If he was going to be ill he would have been before now so don't worry.  But in future I'd just stick to doggie drops that are especially formulated for dogs.

I read on a greyhound forum about a greyhound that had eaten a box of roses chocolates (wrappers as well) just before Christmas and it had to be rushed to the vets and it was touch and go for a few days.  The vet had to operate to get the roses out, some were still wrapped.  I think they said he gave the dog something called Cal carb as an antidote and that it is available from health shops.

monty just went for a walk round the house and went to the playroom where my brother had left his cabury's selection. i thought he might die cos i know a terrier eat a 2 pound box of chocolates and was violently ill and died :-(
