Hi Val thanks for asking. But I didn't make it to Manchester.
I have two elderly cats in their 20's, and Oscar the neutured tom, was diagnosed with CRF (chronic renal faliure) Dec 2004, well he's been well since then but Wed night early hours Thursday morning about 4.00am he started to throw up - and was really bad really quickly. At 6.00am we were at the emergency vets. He was unwell and they gave him an injection to stop him being sick, but he was really poorly when we brought him home.
At 10.00am my vet came and there was talk of taking him in to be put onto a drip as he was dehydrated. I said no if he couldn't drink then that was that (after lots of crying I said that)
He is an elderly cat and I did not want him to spend what may have been his last few hours with strangers and hooked to a machine. I realise now I want him and his sister to pass away quietly and without pain (that I will do) BUT at home where they know where they are.
Well he was really poorly and I thought we'd lost him, even his sister couldn't evoke a response- which is unheard of she can annoy a saint can Cleo (or Daisy-May as she is called in times of annoyance)
At about 2.00pm Thursday I was sitting in the bedroom with him and considering calling the vet for the last time as his sister Cleo came in and demanded a treat. To keep her quiet, I went downstairs and fetched up their two china saucers with squirty cream (you know UHT stuff) they adore it but rarely have it. And I put one saucer on the landing for her and was chastising myself for bringing two with him being ill when Oscar staggered out onto the landing and pawed me for his saucer. I gave it to him and he wanted more I gave him more and pushed his water dish to him he drank Since then he has eaten a pack of whiskas food and more than his share of a chicken breast plus drunk water .
The vet has been back and said he can see he's bette but no idea why. We are awaiting the blood test results to see if it was the CRF or something else .
But either way as I type he is curled up on his sheepskin rug in the spare bedroom in front of the radiator purring. So he must be on life number 5 now that I know of.
So did not get to Manchester somehow Tess seemed so young and full of life compared to the cats which I hadn't noticed before.
I am pleased everyone had a good day at Manchester. Animals - who'd have 'em?
In himself he is fine at the moment, eating drinking and tolerating his sister annoying him, and tormenting the dogs from the bedroom window. But most of all he is still loving me. He is a cat in a million - maybe because he was so ill treated before I got him as a kitten from cat rescue before he was 7 weeks he'd had most of his whiskers pulled out and numerous cigarette burns all over his body. As well as a couple of broken (healing) ribs when he and his sister were found in a black bin liner in a multi storey car park. Hence almost 23 years ago I went to cat rescue for one female kitten and came out with one female adorable ginger/white Cleo and one damn ugly -hating life grey/black (turned out to be white and ginger :) ) tom Oscar. The rest as they say is history. :)

So sorry to hear about Oscar, but you must be doing something right to get them both to 23 years old!! Good heavens, that's a good age. Glad he's perked up!
Manchester HUH!! They'll be other shows!! At least you know what you're be wearing!! :)
Just remember the old saying (that't I've got wrong myself before now!) "Better a week too early than a day too late!" :(

Yes thanks Val. I will and do recall it often these days but both my two are now as I type playing chase the silver paper ball (thrown of course by Moi :) ) across the bedroom floor. Having just demolished between them almost a 1/3rd lb of neck of lamb fillet. gently grilled then cubed :)
As long as he is not in pain eating and drinking and his quality of life is as it should be for a cat his age - ie on Tuesday he jumped down from wardrobe unaided and gets up there now via the bed/chest drawers then onto the wardrobe.
Thanks though the though is always in the back of my mind I have no choice at their age. And you're right there are always other shows and the pup is still a baby - but time goes so fast.
