I have a lovely beautiful boy, it was brought to my attention by a dog groomer his jaw was very over shot for his breed. Kennel club states it should be level or slightly over, the reason I am concerned is i am thinking of breeding him Dog groomer suggests getting lady with level jaw Can anyone advise me? Many thanks

The KC standard requires a Shih Tzu to have a mouth which is either slightly undershot or level. If your boy is overshot then that's a serious fault, which no bitch owner will want introduced into her line. Faulty mouths are one of the most difficuly problems to breed out once they've got into a line.

As JH has said bitch owners can afford to be fussy and a breder would be a fool to ridk bringing in such a fault that is so bovious and difficult to eradicate.  For the price of a stud fee they can use the top winning and pro9ducing dogs in the country.  Enjoy your boy as a pet.  Owning  asud do is not all it's crackled u7p to be and carries a lot of responsibilities.
