Fiona (Alexanders), I too am a member of the briard website. What is your username cos I go on every day. Will try Yahoo one. What is the URL? Barney is black and He came from Stablecourt. His mum is Rudy (monsoon's litter sister) and his dad is Fonsie (Stormfield). How many have you got and where are they from? Barney is going to be huge I think. He is six old months and already bigger than my mum's bitch who is 2 1/4 yrs! Dont worry about the article, I just like to read about anythink remotely Briard!

My next door neighbours had one for a very short while, won't go into that!  Her eyes were exactly the same as the one on the TV they looked awful !  Thought that the sire was a handsome devil and the pups did look healthy.  Was so annoyed when they said that the mother is only 18 months, not sure whether that meant at the moment or when she had the pups !  SOME PEOPLE.

If that was a picture in the paper   I'd never seen cherry eyes before, even I recognised there was a big problem, looks very painful :(

This report in the paper makes me very sad, I keep thinking of all the dimwits who will be wanting a nice lucrative breed :(

Whatever the problem with the eyes were there certainly was one, perhaps with some of the money from the puppy sales they can take her to an opthalmic specialist. If the pic in the Daily Mail is anything to go by(I didn`t see her on TV) I doubt if she can see properly and that might account for her being nervous.
I feel for the genuine people in the breed who no doubt will have to pick up the pieces after the influx of ` new breeders` out to make a fast buck. The press has a lot to answer for in this case!
Wonder how long it will be before the poor bitch is in whelp again? Cynical...... me never.

My neapolitan had severe cherry eye and having now seen a close up picture of the bitches face it looks very much like what our neo had. She needs to see a vet as soon as possible.  Neapolitans can be made nervous by harsh discipline, they need firm handling but voice is enough. They love to please. The ones I know that are nervous have been smacked!! Also bad socialisation can give them a lack of confidence.    I just hope that this lovely dog is retired from breeding now as she truly has done her bit for the neo breed. I hope they dont put her in whelp again.

Wouldn`t like to bet on it ! How many hobby breeders do you know that have been able to give up their livelyhood to look after a litter? Wouldn`t be surprised if they are not on the look out for an adult bitch  no sorry an adolesent bitch (their research into the breeding of  their  breed or any other large breed for that matter wasn`t enough was it? ) to put to what they must now consider that handsome prolific stud dog.

I have come across some ads for some neos. I do wish reporters or these owners would have given a more honest price of these puppies. At the moment these pups are advertised (epupz) for £800. An Article I read sated that they had sold only 3 puppies and the pups were already 8 weeks old? Not a very lucrative market for a quick buck. I know people who have bred these and they are not a breed for everyone and it is not unheard of to have puppie still with the breeder heading into 14-16 weeks. talk about cost of feeding 20 puppies til they are 14-16 weeks, not to mention innoculations and of course let us not forget the food for mom to get her back into shape . and of course that much needed eye surgery we can all hope she will get. I wish they would have done this breed a bit more fair justice and were honest about the whole situation and maybe deterred those who are out for a quick buck!
My heart goes out to this poor neo girl who will in no doubt b bred from again. what was the name in the news article? Kimberly Kirkham? I think they have a website too. Have not seen the big update about the 20 puppies though, mind you I think this whole publicity thing did not do them alot of good.
