Glazby has started to answer me back!! I told him off yesterday as he was trying his best to dig a hole in the living room carpet - I just said "Glaz NO"!!! and then went back to reading my newspaper. Next thing, I look over the paper and he's standing there glaring at me really cheekily with his tail wagging and then growled at me!! I growled back a la dog language!! and got wiggle-bums in return!! I think I just had my first doggy talk conversation!!
Also, I was snoozing on Sunday on the sofa and apparently Glaz got all upset as he was staring at me and I was obviously not responding. OH said that he was watching and Glaz came right up to me - nose to nose - and was whining really softly!! I woke up to find a very happy wiggley dog!! Think he must have been checking that I was still alive!!
Do any of your pets have conversations with you?

Both of mine answer me back :( Fagan is 10 months and if I tell him no he does a little growly noise at me (like speaking, not nasty or anything) my little Alfie who is now 15 weeks has started barking at me, if I tell him no he barks and barks and barks in fact if I call him to me he also barks

god yes, nellie never shuts up,flynn only when hes excited & tara when she wants something (ie has her bally stuck somewhere)

Both mine have always spoken to me. Murf does the growly thing when I tell him "no", I always growl back :D and when I really offend him (like stopping him literally squashing Ella, terrible mummy that I am) he barks at me for a good 5 minutes with bum in air. He will not leave me alone when I sleep on the settee and will lick me to death if someone doesn't stop him. ;)
lol - Murf sounds just like Glazby!! He sticks his bum in the air but its the look in his eyes that always makes me laugh - so cheeky and mistchievious!! :D

ditto flynn!
they can start a naughty boys club!!!
I can imagine them all as naughty little boys - all with grubby grazed knees and pockets full of frogs and things to scare the girls!! :D
They're all Mummy's boys really though!!! :D

hehehe!
flynn likes to kiss the girls though, hed be initiating the kiss chase!
lol - I wonder about Glazby's sexuality sometimes and so it wouldn't surprise me if Flynn had his pick of the girls whilst Glaz was eyeing up the boys!! ;-)

This is soo true Charanda ;) but if they were "human" boys, we wouldn't tolerate it and they would be called wusses by all the other little boys in the playground :D :D

flynn is a wuss, you only have to blow a raspberry or sneeze & he falls apart!!!!
Sounds like you might be getting a little girl soon hairypooch - I'm sure she'll put them bad boys in their places!! ;-)
Yes my labrador use to give me plenty of back chat, if I spoke to him about something depending what the situation was he would give me plenty back in the form of short barks, whines, grumbling growls. The worst one which had both myself & my partner laughing at him was when I had prepared his dinner as usual and asked him to fetch my slippers from upstairs before I put the food down for him, he kept going half way up the stairs having a tantrum in barks and whines and coming back down again without fetching the slippers, I continued to ask him for my slippers whilst standing there but he got so worked up about it he couldn't decide which way to run in the end and got a real "Kevin" complex that day.
And sulk - world's best!

Delta is a talker too ...she always has to have the last grumble/rumble when I am talking to her, she has me in stitches. It is especially funny when I *think* I have the last word and she walks away ...only to chunter at me over her shoulder :p :p :p
Alfie talks and talks but then he's a Rott and almost all of them do it :-) Sometimes it can sound horrendous but means nothing.

yep Tally chats too! glad other peoples dogs talk tho as people think I am crazy sometimes!, Once I was obviously chatting too loud for Tally as she was sleepy..she came over and very gently bit my nose!!...had read in a book thats what mums do to pups..well gently close their mussles..to stop them chatting..cheeky little Vizsla!!!
our 10month staff girl does it as well, especially to my Husband. He came in this morning after a night shift and she gave him such a telling off she had us in stitches. We talk to her an awful lot and she looks at us as if she is trying to understand! Who'd ever think I would admit to talking to a dog or her talking to us
My Ridgeback is hilarious when he answers back , it's all I can do not to laugh , and keep a stern face. He usually sounds like that 'big hairy thing' in Star Wars, what's its name - 'Chubacca' (spelt wrong) ? Then he does a play bow, goes all wiggly and wants to kiss to say sorry !! Very sweet, but don't let it fool you , if I gave in to him an inch he'd take a yard.

I believe Chewbacca was based on a Malamute (George Lucas owned a Malamute) so you *know* the sounds that Delta makes just by listening to Star Wars :D

I'm amazed at the variety of breeds that make Wookie noises! Spinoni do it too, especially when greeting you! Our older one is a very lippy dog who likes the sound of his own voice and apart from wookieing a lot he also barks. Then when he's told to be quiet he always does a last word bark, very quietly, before stalking off to sulk for a while.

Yeah we have a wookie wake up chorus every morning !
We get a lovely howling rendition if we're not up at our usual time :)
Yes, George Lucas based Chewbacca on his Mal Indiana (who incidently was also his insiration for Indiana Jones ;) ) Though the sounds were made up of several animals, most notably bears, badgers, camels and walruses.
:)

Fagan my Setter sounds just like chewbacca when he is playing with little Alf :D :D :D
