I took in an 8 year old female boxer today and I'm slightly concerned, she seems to be leaking!
We got her at 12 noon and she was fine all afternnon until 6pm when I left her at home with my partner while I took my daughter to brownies, she'd been for a walk at 5pm and had done a pee, but by the time I came home from dropping my daughter off (half an hour) she had wet herself twice :-( The first time she was lying down and my parnter didnt notice and she made quite a big puddle, the 2nd time he noticed and gave her a nudge, told her to stop it and she did then he took her out and she did a pee, but every time she gets up from lying down there is a damp patch or a puddle under her back end, could it just be nerves or does this sound like incontinence? she doesn't seem to be doing it on purpose, or even know she's doing it, like I said she just seems to leak!
I will be taking her to the vet for a checkup anyway but just thought I'd ask you guys on here too, its such a shame for her, she's a really lovely gentle old lady and I want to know what to do for the best, for her sake.

It sounds like she may be incontinent - if you mention it to the vets they can also check for a urine infection.

I assume that she is spayed, and this is not ucommon especially in this breed.  You may find that Propalin drops from the VEt may help.  There is also a new medication called Incurin.  One of them though can cause bitches to become aggressive, something to do with male hormones.  My freinds dobe bitch was fine on Propalin and it sorted the problem as long as she stayed on them.
