I was talking my friend the other day and she said volunteers help walk the dogs in rescue centres, which got me thinking our dog loves walking with other dogs. Does anyone know if they would let you take your own dogs along for the walks obviously it could only be with the dog friendly dogs. I have rounded up four or five friends willing to do this with me. Just wondered if anyone has any experinece. We would not be able to do this at a certain time every week as we all work funny shifts i just wondered if this would be a problem before i contact anyone. Any advice greatly appreciated.

I think it's worth offering your services anyway. As long as your dog is all up to date with his jabs etc it shouldn't be a problem. It might help them assess rescue dogs & also help rehabilitate others (if they're nervous etc). As long as your dogs temperment is sound, I think you'd be doing them a service and perhaps giving some dogs alot more opportunity to find a home. :)
Yes he is all up date, he seems to love other dogs so i just thought it would make him happy and also do some good for the rescues. I will contact one close to us and see what they say. I just wondered if there was anyone on this site that make works for rescue and could maybe advise.
The rescue centre I take food to, have their own exercise field for walking and although they have their regular volunteer walkers, they encourage visitors to walk some of the dogs. The dogs usually have a sign on their kennel "please walk me". I can also walk with my own dog. Sue x
