My bitch is currently on day 25 of her season - her vulva is now more or less back to it's normal size and my male dog seemed no longer interested in her. So this evening I reintroduced them - a bit of sniffing but still no great interest from my boy . I popped out to the car and when I came back in I found them tied !! - should I be worried that she may conceive at this late date ? has anyone had any experience of a mating this far into a season being successful ?. I really thought that she was completely finished and am now kicking myself for taking my eyes of them after being so careful throughout :(

It's possible, though unlikely. My bitch's last litter was conceived after matings on days 18 and 20.

It certainly is possible.  Afriend wityh dobes bitch was mated at day 27 and despite the jab to prevent conception still produced one live and one dead pup.
