my old boy has just got over a bout of  the runs that lasted nearly 10 days to some degree, he was treated with anti inflamatory anti biotics and probiotics, it was a long worring job as he is also diabetic, we finaly got a more solid poo by giving him the herb tormatil from my herbalist. however even though every thing is back to normal decent poos very good appitite and energy levels, he is still dropping tiny bits of poo  between visits to the garden . they are just tiny bits of normal looking poo no mucus no blood. if idont catch him quick enough he cleans it up himself if you know what i mean. he has an appointment in 2 days but i was wondering if anyone had any ideas. he seems absolutely fine in every other way no pain or very much wind even.[the cause of the runs was never found it was a mystery and unexpected and was unusual as there was no vomiting]

Hi Pru,

Sorry to hear your old boy has been poorly :(  He may have strained the interior muscles of his rectum and therefore be temporarily incontinent (to a small degree).  It's obviously worth mentioning to your vet but hopefully it is only a minor and short-term problem following such a lengthy period of bowel trouble.  Hopefully he is well on his way to normal.

Good luck,
HTH, Teri :)
