Hi,

Please forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this. I have given up my full time job because it was making me very miserable and was becoming more and more demanding leaving me not enough time to spend with my own dogs.

I am thinking in the future after I have trainined my own pups of offering a doggy day care service to people who maybe just want their dog looked after for a day so they can go shopping or on a day trip somehere. Some people do not have family or friends who are able to this for them.

I know I am not going to become a millionare doing this I'm just thinking I could maybe earn a few pounds helping someone out and doing something I would enjoy.

Does anyone have any thoughts, how much would people be prepared to pay?

Thank you Very much.
Karen
PS I am not trying to advertise this as I am not in any position to do this yet.

No you certainly won't become a millionaire doing this! The council will only allow me to take in 5 dogs + my own at any one time & I charge £10 per day. I also have a second job to make ends meet. Its a very time consuming job - I am tied to the house whilst I have dogs & the mess they make is unbelievable when it is wet & muddy outside but I have to say that most of the time I love doing it.

I use to pay £10 per day to get Fagan looked after, now this particular dog sitter has moved away and I realise how much I really relied on her.  I think trust is  a really important thing, I really trusted this lady with my dogs I know there are other dog sitters around who provide the same service but I dont think I would trust anyone else to keep them safe - I know one has children so I would be worried about them leaving the door open and the other sitter walks on a playing field which although bordered by trees has a reasonably main road alongside it so I would be worried that the dogs might chase a rabbit into the road.  Go for it though, at least it will be something you enjoy :)

I wish someone I could trust would offer this service near me - I would gladly pay £10 a day.  For instance, I'm going to Crufts 10 March just for the day and although I can leave the cat no problem, what do I do with Copper?

So he goes to the cat and dog home, has to be the day before cos we leave very early and we can't pick him up til the day after as we arrive home after they close.  So that's £19.50, which of course I don't grudge and I would never leave him in the house all day but it would be better for him and us if he could be at home with someone popping in a couple of times to take him out.

In fact I'd be prepared to pay £20 for one day for a sitter to eliminate the hassle of taking him to the kennels.  Must be more than me has a need for it?  However, sitters do need to be prepared for difficult dogs - insurance would be a must I would think.

Thank you very much for your replies, first I am going to train my dogs and enjoy some time at home having a break from work. I think when the time is right I may place an advert and see what happens.
