Daniel qualified for the JH final for the 5th year running, This year he is only allowed one guest to accompany him for the meal, I think that is so mean, other years he could have up to 3 guests.  I know Pedigree have cut the Weekend Dinner Bed/Breakfast out, due to the increased costs involved, but to tell a child, he can only choose one parent to go, I take as an insult.

I agree that it is not fair to make a child choose, they should be allowed up to two guest (mum and  dad) I know not eveyone has 2 parents but most still do!

I agree, its disgraceful! (however I would never know because the closest I have come is 2nd at the semis!!!!)

That is sad.  I was allowed two guests for the Proplan Pup of the Year which is a one day do, though I only took one.  Surely for the Juniors at least, two should be allowed as a matter of course.

That is such a shame Charm, I think unfortunately over the years there have been a lot of hanger ons getting free meals, that maybe they have had to cut costs a bit, but to do it to the Juniors is very unfair in my opinion.

We were always allowed three guests for the meals, can you or your husband go along to support him, but one of you miss the meal and take sandwich's.  Is the winner still invited to stay for the ball in the evening or has that changed too?

Also how is  it fair to restrict the competitors when all these big wigs in the canine worls like Champ show bods, judges etc get to go????  How do they choose the invitees, is it some sort of secret handshake thing, lol :D

Unfortunately Brainless I think that is the problem.

There is no Big Ball in the evening anymore, it changed last year to a luncheon only do. Yes, invited guests go along to this, so looks like I will have sit outside with my lunchbox..............

Hi Charm
My daughter has also qualified for the finals. I have spoke to Maria Swift and its okay for more than one guest to go but only the one guest is allowed the lunch with the Junior handler so you can both go after all.
:)

Gosh that really has changed then, do the Juniors still have the JHA tea before they leave?

If they do you'll have to fill up in there. :-D

It was such a wonderful occasion when we all went along armed with our DJ's and Gowns, just in case!!!!
- By Star [in] Date 15.01.05 21:52 UTC
As far as I understandit is just a luncheon for the qualifiers and one guest.

No, no afternoon tea either...........gets worse............HuH.........and........they now dont give the Vet or Champ stake qualifiers the free meal at Crufts anymore, poor Daniel, when the invite arrived, and saw only one guest for the meal, we both said, well, Im not going for the meal if you cant have one............and he said.........neither am I then..........bless, we then had to agree one of us would go in with him, mind you, expect he would rather have a macdonalds anyway..............

Good for him. You could be right though MacDonalds would probably go down better with the Juniors.  Now thats an idea, if Pedigree served everyone with MacDonalds, then they could afford to pay for the extra guest. :-D

Shame about the tea though, I always thought that was the best meal of the day, all those scrummy cakes :-O

Wish him all the success in the world, saw him two or three years ago at the Finals, he's a great little handler.

I'll have my fingers crossed for him.

Hey I never got a free meal at Crufts when my Jozi qualified for the Champ stakes! (She qualified in 2002 and the final was in 2003)  Who do I complain to, huh huh :D

Maybe you can get a backdated one Brainless, mind it could be very dried up by now. LOL :-D :-D

Anyway Charm best of Luck for Daniel :D

Daniel managed to get 6th Place at the finals, I didnt go in the end, as we have a litter born on monday, but there were several parents, who could not go for the meal, and as usual INVITED GUESTS were.  There were empty spaces at the meal as some of the INVITED..did not turn up, but the offer of taking their place was not offered to those parents who had to wait outside.
