Can anyone advise a good grooming brush/tool for a very heavily moulting Lab. At the moment I am using a bristle brush and a glove thing with rubber bumps on it. while it removes a lot of hair it doesn't seem to get into the coat very well. I was wondering if the metal slicker type brushes are any good for a Labs coat.
Thanks.
I have a slicker brush for my Large Munsterlanders. I am not too happy with it as the dogs don't seem to enjoy the sharp pointy bits. They are happy with a bristle brush, and I have a glove with bumpy bits that they all enjoy. I would think that the slicker is for dogs with a heavier coat than a Lab. Just my opinion though. ;)

Hi Mrs. M., I find that a wide tooth metal comb is best for Labs as it removes the tufts easily, Then brush coat with a good bristle brush to remove debris and bring a shine to coat. I also hoover my dogs with the dyson,(with the nozzle thing, no comments from the audience please) :D

Is that the dyson animal Kayc!!!! :D Think you mis-read the name :P
I find the gloves where brillient on boxers, they work wonderfully on setters too but now we use a hard rubber hourse brush...A friend who used to own hourses didn't need the grooming stuff anymore and some of it works lovely on the dogs when they are looseing coat, it just takes dead coat away, and leaves it in clumps around the room!!!!

I like the brushes with the metal "Bristles" with the round bobbles on the end. Not got a clue what they are called but along with a metal comb they work well on my Labradors. But then, I find a Blackthorn hedge almost as good! ;)
Regards, John
Thanks everyone, I think I'll have a go with the metal (is it called a pin?) brush and metal comb. Love the Hoover idea, don't think Molly would be too keen, Henry Hoover is one of her worst enemys!!
Cheers
