hi im just new to this site and its very interesting
i mated my collie a year ago but she never took even although she had tied twiced.
i have just mated her a week ago and she is still swollen  she was not like this last year after she was mated .she was mated on her12+14+15 day so im keeping my fingers crossed and hope their nothing rong with her

Hi, what sort of Collie is she Rough? Smooth? Border? Whichever, hopefully she & the stud dog have been eye tested clear before you embarked on breeding. It's not at all unusual for bitches to miss when they are mated for all sorts of reasons. The fact that she is still swollen  is not unusual either, bitches' seasons progress the same whether they have been mated or not. If your bitch was willing to stand & the dog was willing to mate her, it sounds as if you mated them at the right time, all you can do now is wait & see. Did you use the same dog both times? Sorry, just realised she's a Rough! Too late at night for me!

thanx yes the 2 dogs are eye and hip tested .i was only asking because i have a male border collie i rescued when he was 2 now 13 . i never mated them i mated my bitch with another rough collie  i was so i could let her back in be side her as they have all been together from day i got the rough collie as a pup. from a very close friend for my birthday 3 years ago . thanks alot as put my mind at rest

Even if your bitch is in whelp she could still be mated by your own male and carry his pups at the same time as the others.You MUST still keep them apart.If you let them back together and they mated you would have to have all the pups DNA'd before registering them to know which pup came from which sire

bother her but i will keep them apart eny way as you never no what
could happen behind closed doors lol
