Both my dogs have been microchiped, but for easy indentitfication I would like them to wear an identity tag that hangs from their collars. So far they have had three each, but the only trouble is after they have been for a walk, they come back without them. The problem lies with the wire ring that hangs onto the collar, it doesnt seem to be strong enough.
Does any one have any ideas on what I can do, and what does every one else do to instantly identitfy their dogs if they got lost.

the place where I buy my tags gives me extra stong split rings for mine, or you could always write your details on the dogs collar :)

I find the split-rings you get with tags are much too big and catch on things, so I get smaller ones loose from a hardward shop. They're really fiddly to attach but last much longer.

The split rings I have are really small, I know what you mean about the big ones though - my dad accidently attached the lead to that ring and the dog broke it and ran out onto the main road, being deaf she found car chasing great fun

Thanks everyone, regarding the name tags.

Have you thought about the plates that slide onto the collar instead? They're guaranteed never to fall off and have never fallen off mine.

i use a keyring ring to attatch a name tag to my dogs collar.

There is a new sort of webbing collar out that you can have your name and phone number woven into if that helps.  Unfortunately I cant remembere where I saw it advertised.  Probably Dogs Today.

Thank you for some useful ideas.

boomerang tags

then click on 'collar tags' and it should take you there

It's an american company, but they delivered really quickly when I ordered mine. I think it's an extra dollar or 2 for international orders, but it still works out at something like only £5 per tag, comparable with a dangly one made here. My collars are closed loop, so I had to get the adjustable collar tag as opposed to the slide on, but they honestly aren't going anywhere! They are brilliant, but it all depends on the width of your collar I guess (well.. your dog's collar!). Hope this helps

:-)
