Have just had a quote from Marks and Spencer Pet Insurance and find it hard to believe £10.65 per month for lifetime policy.
Is anyone with Marks and Spencer for Pet insurance or has anyone had any experiences?
Thanks

Im with them for my youngest Sadie but not had to claim yet- fingers crossed :)
I have also heard how cheap marks and spencers are. Do you know if the price you have is for a large or small breed? I am at the moment paying 23 pounds per month per dog and I have 2. This is with pet plan.

The price is determined by your post code I think, you get a discount of 10% for your second dog, try this link

thanks for that link sadie!i am going to change to marks and sparks. I can insure my two danes for the price I am paying for one at the moment and thats with only 50pounds excess.Great!!!
I have changed to M&S, £11.91 per month with no excess! Hope I never have to use it though. It really seems a good policy, read the small print and could see no problems.

I pay £8 or £9 for a staffy (with £70 excess) - the higher the excess you are willing to pay the lower the premium :)

I changed from Pet Plan who's premiums rocketed last year.
I haven't claimed yet, but have heard good reports from people who have. If you have a M&S credit card you save an extra 5% too (plus you get lots of M&S vouchers for using it) :)

i gopt 5 fcr with them
wispa 7 1/2 is £13.40
brie chase blue teyha are all £9.40 each a month i have had clainm they are vg and pay out quicky

I switched to M&S from another company and I pay 13.75 for the dog (border terrier) and 10 for the cat for a lifetime policy. I always go for the highest cover though and opted for no excess so mine won't be the cheapest premium that they offer.
I haven't had to claim thankfully but my mum claimed for her spaniel and they paid up right away.

This is an interesting thread and it has made me look at the renewal for Spice's insurance, which arrived yesterday, much more closely. We are with Pinnacle who in her 1st year had a policy excess of £55.
This years renewal conditions state excess of £50 minimum, but also says that each claim is subject to a 15% charge on the costs! so in fact I could end up paying more than £50 if she were to need vets treatment!
I have also now asked M&S for a quote confirmation, as Hampshire does not appear in their 'area list' and our postal code could be taken as Surrey, either way it's a lot cheaper than Pinnacle! and carries no excess!
Jacqueline :)

i am with m/s i live in hants /surrey boards my post code is gu for surrey but my address is hants annd m/s went on the hants not the surrey postal code and plus my vet in farnham,

Can anyone who has claimed with M&S reveal if this puts up costs of premiums for the following year?
Thanks, Teri ;)

i been with m/s since they strated their policys back in 2002 it was £13.per dog and know i pay £13 80 for 1 dog and the rest are of 4 dog at £9.40 so it gone down on the more diogs you got plus it had not gone up when i had to claim, which two of mine have over £500 in 1 year each to be claimed.
i think i still got to pay a excees of £ 60

Hey briedog, I'm just down the road from you in Kingsley!
I've been with M & S for 2 years now and yes they have put their renewal premium up but only by a £1 I think. I pay £11 for my older GSD boy and £9 for my younger one I think. Very cheap considering the level of cover and recommendations!

Thanks Briedog & Jayne ;)
Jayne, did your premium go up just because your dog was now in an older age bracket or because of a claim? The prices for M&S seem superb value compared to everyone else and the option of having no excess for such a small extra amount seems unbeatable.
Just can't help wondering if there is a catch should a claim be made, ie. "life" policy suddenly becomes annual / premium for following year jumps / they renew policy but without option of having no excess.
Regards, Teri ;)

Hi
Am thinking about changing to M&S after reading these postings, but part of their wording says they do not cover dogs that are "used for trade, business or for breeding", although mine arnt used for trade or business I do intend to breed from mine, anyone else breed who uses M &S, ??????
i am with rspca pet insurance i have 3 dogs insured i pay £33 a mounth anything under £45 i have to pay ,but i never knew m&s did pet insurance £10 sounds quite good for life it will be interesting what others say about it.
I think i might change to m and s it would save me about 4 pounds a month with no excess which is better than a kick in the teeth. It seems to cover the same as my pets plan insurance as well.

Hopefully the breeding bit is that they don't cover any problems whilst a bitch is pregnant or for any problems due to a pregnancy or birth ? Don't know, but I know what I'm going to be doing tomorrow :d

Yes like most normal policies it excludes any claims made due to breeding but also says when you go to apply online that We will not insure your dog if used for trading, business or if used for breeding, I think a phone call to clear this up tomorrow and also to see how much it'll cost for 3 dogs.

Just went on Direct Lines website as well as the above mentioned it also mentions dogs doing "gun dog" work! That's me ****** then. What do they class as gundog work ? Shooting, retrieving without shooting, gundog training without shooting ???????????
Does that mean that all of us with gundogs will have problems. I was thinking of trainng my elder dog but not to do gundog work as such but just the general bits and pieces included in the training side of things.

OK I pay 9.95 for my Bulldog with E&L but the vet cover is only £5,000 per year, so what does LIFE TIME mean ?

Just wondering if 'not for breeding' bit includes the stud dogs?
Jo
Yes I'd like to know the level of cover. Mine is with more than and is £11.99, 10.99 & 9.99 it also gives you two months free insurance per new addition. It cover 6k per year. Tesco's is cheaper at 8.99 or 9.99 but does not give half the cover. As it happens my pup broke her leg several months ago and that would have meant if she had anything else happen in the remaining period for the year she would not have been covered. More than seemed very efficient.

Life Time means what it says -for the life of the animal. Each year the cover for vet fees starts afresh and you have to pay an excess for the first claim for each illness your pet has and then for the rest of year you can get all the vet fees repaid for that illness. This means that if your pet has an ongoing illness you are still covered for it until your pet dies. Having said that should your claim go above your limit you would have to pay that excess but the following year you would start again until your limit is reached. Hope thats clear!
